LUCY LIU AND PADMA LAKSHMI TO BE HONORED AT GOLD HOUSE GALA

Lucy Liu and Padma Lakshmi are among the stars who will be honored at the third annual Gold House Gala in May.

This year marks the third annual Gold Gala where top Asian Pacific and multicultural leaders will convene to celebrate the 2024 A100 List.

Gold House will announce the A100 honorees on May. 1. The list highlights the 100 most impactful Asian Pacific changemakers in culture and society over the past year.

This year's theme, A Gold New World, imagines a tomorrow for all, built by all. Luxury brand fashion designer Prabal Gurung will help bring this vision to life as the first-ever Gold Gala Creative Director.

Speaking with Variety, Gurang said, "When we talk about Asian representation, we talk about all Asians. People are flying in from India, Taiwan, Shanghai and all over. It's about people from their respective fields coming together to inspire." He added, "Gold House and Gold Gala have become a beacon for the Asian Pacific community to unite, invest in, and celebrate our inventiveness and impact. This year, I've focused on making Gold Gala look truly global while feeling local, balancing the breadth of our expansive diaspora with its bold, unified heart. From the organic and towering arboreal growths to our centerpiece spheres that shape us–the sun, the moon, our Earth-we envisage a new, more holistic, more centered world that enables all of us to bloom."

The event will take place at the historic Music Center in downtown Los Angeles on May 11. Guests will be treated to a Michelin-level three-course dinner, presented by OpenTable, with a menu designed by Lakshmi and Gold Gala Executive Chef Vijay Kumar and his team behind Semma in New York City.

Honorees of the A1 Award, recognizing the most impactful in their field over the past year, including actor, producer, and director Dev Patel for Entertainment and Media; content creator and streamer Valkyrae for Gaming and Sports; and the Maui First Responders for Social Impact.

"The Sympathizer" star Hoa Xuande will be honored with the New Gold Award, which is handed to a rising leader who redefines canon for the Asian Pacific community. "Wicked" star Cynthia Erivo will receive the Gold Ally honor in recognition of her work in front of and behind the camera to advance representation. The creators and cast of Netflix's "Beef" will be presented with the Gold Icon honor for its groundbreaking representation of the Asian American experience. And in celebration of its 50th anniversary, Hello Kitty will receive the Gold Generation honor.

Other honorees include Olympic snowboarder Chloe Kim and Olympic figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi.

Presenters for the night will include musician and DJ Alok, Regina King, Daniels, Netflix's chief content officer Bela Bajaria, Jon M. Chu and Lulu Wang. Additional honorees and presenters will be announced soon.
